Memphis Design Firm Wins National Addy

MEMPHIS, Tennessee, May 27, 2008 – Disciple Design’s creative work on the latest generation of Message Bibles has been awarded a national ADDY from the American Advertising Federation.

The ADDY is the only creative awards program administered by the advertising industry for the industry and, with more than 60,000 entries annually, is considered world's largest and toughest advertising competition. Disciple Design is one of only two firms in Tennessee to win a National ADDY this year and the only one in Memphis.

The Message Personal Size was created for Colorado-based NavPress, one of the world’s largest publishers of Bibles. It is a slightly smaller and thinner version of the Message Bible and is offered in multiple cover designs – leathers, synthetic materials and even combined with printed graphics

A team from Disciple Design traveled to a printing/production facility in Indiana to research cover materials and printing processes. Disciple’s creative staff then collaborated to select the materials, design a series of covers and design the packaging.

This year’s award is the second national ADDY Disciple Design has won. It won another 12 years ago for a logo it designed for a church in Frayser.

Housed in a century-old building at 390 South Main, the design shop was founded in 1991 by Craig Thompson with the goal to assist non profits.

Some might say this year’s award was heaven sent.

“To design a Bible is the ultimate project for us,” said Thompson, whose group began designing covers for NavPress in 2004.
